Welcome to Federal Defender Program, Inc - Northern District of Georgia
The Federal Defender Program, Inc. in Atlanta, Georgia was established in 1973 as a private, not-for-profit Community Defender Organization serving the Northern District of Georgia. We are authorized and funded pursuant to the Criminal Justice Act(“CJA”), 18 U.S.C. § 3006A, et seq. Our office can represent an individual only after we are appointed by the court. Our office represents defendants who cannot afford counsel before the United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. The Federal Defender Program, Inc., is solely funded by an annual grant from the Administrative Office of the United States Courts in the approximate amount of $22,298,000.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality legal representation for our clients. Our attorneys vigorously defend individuals accused of a variety of federal offenses. We are committed to ensuring that the right to counsel, which is guaranteed by the Sixth Amendment and CJA, is enforced on behalf of individuals who cannot afford counsel.
